On Wednesday 5 August 2026, Simonetta Montemagni of the Cnr-Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale “Antonio Zampolli” (CNR-ILC) will present the paper “Beyond Geography: Demographic and Cultural Factors Underlying Dialectal Distances” (Montemagni, Simonetta; Martijn Wieling; Marco Breschi; Gabriele Ruiu)” at Methods XIX – Methods in Dialectology and Language Diversity, a triennial conference that traditionally alternates between Canada and Europe.
Originally a forum for the discussion of methodological issues in dialect research, Methods conferences have progressively extended their topical range and now include the whole spectrum of regional, historical, and social language variation, which is reflected in the addition of “Language Diversity”.
