The first issue of Oral Archives Journal (OAr), the new journal of the Department of Philology and Literary Criticism of the University of Siena, has just been published. It represents a virtual meeting place for those who, from different perspectives, deal with oral archives and voice.
OAr is an international peer-reviewed open access journal that aims to provide a critical space for discussing issues related to the construction, maintenance, use and reuse of oral archives.
The journal is available online and published once a year. It publishes original works in Italian, French and English on various disciplines, including Linguistics, Archival Sciences, Cultural Anthropology, Oral History, Ethnomusicology, Sociology, Psychology, Law and Speech Technology.
The journal, published by Firenze University Press (FUP) and USiena Press, intends to fill a gap in the Italian publishing world and connect the academia with public and private institutions that curate oral sources in various capacities.
Monica Monachini of the Cnr-Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale “Antonio Zampolli” (CNR-ILC) is member of the journal’s Scientific Committee. CNR-ILC researchers Francesca Frontini, for the Oral Data Curation and Speech Technology sections, and Claudia Soria, for the Oral Data Conservation and Speech Technology sections, are also part of the editorial team.
