CEED, a web-based editor aimed at creating critical editions, is presented in the seminar. CEED is one of the results achieved within the ERC PhiBor project directed by Amos Bertolacci. One of the main objectives of PhiBor is to create a complete inventory of the manuscripts of Ilāyyyāt, the main work of metaphysics by Avienna, and a digital critical edition of the text. CEED aims at providing a user-friendly tool capable of making scholars, even with little or no technical knowledge, able to create a digital edition independently. CEED allows the coding of different levels of phenomena and to record simple simple varying readings and with scribal interventions that determined different phases of the text of witnesses over time. The editor produces digital editions in TEI P5 format. Furthermore, CEED is a collaborative environment that allows multiple editors to work simultaneously and share the edition data. The modular structure of CEED makes it possible to easily extend its functionality.
