Collaborative and cooperative web platform for digital scientific editions
Within the GreekSchools ERC project (The Greek philosophical schools according to Europe’s earliest ‘history of philosophy’: Towards a new pioneering critical edition of Philodemus’ Arrangement of the Philosophers) Cnr-Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale “Antonio Zampolli” (CNR-ILC) is developing CoPhiEditor, a collaborative and cooperative web platform for digital scientific editions.
Why use the CoPhiEditor?
The collaborative and cooperative web platform CoPhiEditor allows to:
- generate the first draft of the literary transcription from the diplomatic transcription
- check compliance with editorial conventions
- validate intertextual properties: number of letters per line, incomplete letters, uncertain letters, letters integrated by the editor, etc.
- collaborate with other scholars (connected user indicator, cursor indicator, etc.)
- cooperate with other scholars by discussing conjectures about the text
- perform an automatic lemmatisation
- compare facsimilar scans
- control access (work group definition; access to resources diversified according to the role: editor, viewer, etc.)
- conduct research in edited texts, sources and external resources

Main features of CoPhiEditor
- based on Domain Specific Languages
- requires the user to have minimum technical skills for the critical edition of texts
- supports the publication process of printed and digital scientific editions, as it allows to export the text in different formats: Docx, XML (TEI, EPIDOC)
- provides automatic tools for suggesting conjectures and checking inconsistencies
- supports the IIIF and Web Annotation Data Model standards
