The WRITE
(Written Resources Infrastructure, Technology and Evaluation)
Committee is the natural evolution of the ICCWLRE (International
Coordination Committee for Written Language Resources and
Evaluation), born from an idea of Antonio Zampolli and officially
launched during the ENABLER/ELSNET Workshop "International
Roadmap for Language Resources" (Paris, 28th-29th
August 2003).
The
new name of the organization was proposed and agreed on
unanimously during the Joint
COCOSDA/ICCWLRE
Meeting "Building
the Language Resources and Evaluation Roadmap"
at LREC
2004 (Lisbon, 30th May 2004).
The
organization provides an international forum to encourage
and support international coordination and cooperation in
the field of written language resources and technology assessment
methodologies.
