The values are masculine, feminine, inanimate, nonneuter and neuter. The value nonneuter comprises the first three values when opposed to neuter. (The complications are due to the interaction between a grammatical two-gender system and a semantic anaphoric system for animateness and sex.) The feature is applicable in singular for personal and possessive pronouns and, in the two-gender form, for most other subcategories.
