Issues in practical application

Once a basic scheme for annotation has been arrived at, many issues will arise in the application of the scheme. In this section, some of the more important issues are discussed, and in most cases no actual recommendations are made. In the formation of a more detailed annotation scheme these types of issues will arise frequently, and the choices to be made are to a large extent unimportant, as long as a choice is made and is adhered to consistently. What is important is that such decisions must be documented in detail.
