Central semantics

In German, attributive adjectives are inflected, predicative adjectives are not inflected:

• das rote/[adj & attr]   Kleid.
• das Kleid ist rot/[adj & nattr]  .

Most adjectives can be used in adverbial position, too. In these cases, they are not inflected:

• das Auto f"ahrt schnell/[adj & nattr]
