{"id":25108,"date":"2026-06-30T09:34:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T07:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ilc.cnr.it\/?p=25108"},"modified":"2026-06-30T09:56:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T07:56:00","slug":"alt-edic-italys-active-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ilc.cnr.it\/en\/alt-edic-italys-active-role\/","title":{"rendered":"ALT-EDIC: Italy\u2019s active role"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Important news for the Italian participation in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alt-edic.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alliance for Language Technologies (ALT-EDIC)<\/a><\/strong>: following the Assembly of Members meeting held on 18 June 2026, Fabio Pianesi, Distinguished Fellow at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbk.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK)<\/a> and Italy\u2019s representative in the ALT-EDIC Assembly of Members, has been appointed Chair of the Assembly of Members. The new Vice-Chair is Stefan Leijnen, representative of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The important role entrusted to Fabio Pianesi further strengthens <strong>Italy\u2019s contribution to the European ecosystem for language technologies and multilingual AI<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ALT-EDIC is one of the first European infrastructures established as a European Digital Infrastructure Consortium. Its mission is to develop a shared European infrastructure for language technologies, with a particular focus on Large Language Models, the availability of European language data, and the promotion of Europe\u2019s linguistic diversity and cultural richness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Italy contributes to ALT-EDIC through the joint involvement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilc.cnr.it\/en\/\">Cnr-Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale \u201cAntonio Zampolli\u201d (CNR-ILC)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbk.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cineca.it\/it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">C<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cineca.it\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cineca.it\/it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NECA<\/a>, on behalf of the Italian Government<\/strong>.
