{"id":10562,"date":"2022-06-21T12:15:37","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T10:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ilc.cnr.it\/cnr-ilc-for-school\/education-and-artificial-intelligence\/"},"modified":"2023-05-19T11:53:48","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T09:53:48","slug":"education-and-artificial-intelligence","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ilc.cnr.it\/en\/cnr-ilc-for-school\/education-and-artificial-intelligence\/","title":{"rendered":"EDUCATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Artificial Intelligence (AI) contributes to achieving Goal 4 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/sustainable-development-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>UN 2030 Agenda <\/strong><\/a> for Sustainable Development: <strong>to provide quality, equitable and inclusive education and learning opportunities for all<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>potential synergy between education and Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> is also highlighted in the UNESCO document <a href=\"https:\/\/unesdoc.unesco.org\/ark:\/48223\/pf0000366994\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Artificial Intelligence in Education: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The role of NLP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Computational Linguistics (LC) is a key area of AI, as it enables computers to understand and generate human language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within AI, <strong>a central role is played by Natural Language Processing (NLP), which provides access to the information content of texts<\/strong> through the reconstruction of the underlying linguistic structure and its explicit representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI, in particular, makes it possible <strong>to personalise and improve learning outcomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advanced applications of NLP methods, techniques, resources and tools <strong>make it possible for a computer to answer questions about the text<\/strong> regarding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>the <strong>contents<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the degree of <strong>readability<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the <strong>genre<\/strong> to which a text can be attributed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the <strong>characteristics of the author<\/strong> of the text (level of schooling, mother tongue, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"scuolacomeorganizzazione\">The school as an organisation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Artificial Intelligence, through the analysis and processing of the increasing amount of data within school information systems, may contribute to the <strong>creation of an integrated knowledge management system applied to the educational field<\/strong> that makes it possible to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>building improvement and innovation pathways for the continuous training of school staff;
