Demonstrative pronouns are those pronouns which add to the forms
of the personal pronouns the mark [s]. Their redundant forms are `ci' and `là'.
Note: With regard to its internal morphological structure, the demonstrative pronoun
`icelui' is a particular case.
Examples:
- Celles-ci / sont plus jolies.
- Celui-là / est mieux.
- Ceux / qui connaissent Pierre l'apprécient.
Demonstrative pronouns can be pronouns that take as basic form
the mark [s]. From a semantic point of view, they correspond to neuter forms (degree zero of personal forms),
that is, the opposition of the gender values masculine and feminine is neutralised.
From a morphological point of view, these forms are masculine forms.
Examples:
- Ceci / n'est pas une pipe.
- Ça / n'a pas d'importance.
- Ce / n'est pas grave.
- Cela / aura des conséquences.
