MULTILEX chose not to give terms a distinct linguistic status from general language words. Both have meanings and surface behaviours which are described and related in the same manner. What makes a term LU different is that it has to be related to sub-language(s) and conceptual contexts to which it belongs. The term is considered from its linguistic sign side in the core linguistic architecture and dealt with as such although information concerning the concept side is refered to in the semantic block.
Terminological contexts of such and such sub-language show special constraints, restrictions or relaxations on the usage of terms. These behaviours may affect any linguistic level. Therefore, information on domains and sectors which characterize a sub-language layer and which specify the usage of the term are not concentrated in a terminology specific feature block. This information is attached to the affected feature block.
