Central semantic of relative pronoun

Syntactic criterion

  1. A relative pronoun has an antecedent in the main clause and realizes a verb argument of the clause in which it occurs. Exception: The relative pronoun quiconque has no antecedent.

Test

Given X a pronoun, P the main clause and P' the clause in which X occurs, if X realizes a the position of a verb argument of P' and if X has an antecedent in P, X is a relative pronoun.

Remark: The morphological unit quiconque is a relative pronoun.
