Some adjectives can have the syntactic behavior of adverbs :
- Le bijou est faux
- Il chante faux (adverbial behavior of the adjective ``faux'')
A range of morphological units can be used as nouns and as adjectives (see semantic criterion):
If X is autonomous and if for X a conceptual interpretation is possible, X is a noun.
Otherwise, if X looses its autonomy, its own format, X is an adjective.

If N+X exists independently from parameters related to a verbal process and/or the situation of
communication, X is an adjective. Otherwise, X is a past participle.

communication, X is an adjective. Otherwise, W is a present participle.
The present participle is invariable, whereas the adjective is variable.

Confusions can be made between the pos-values adjective and interjection:
If X/pos=a looses its referential function, and if X has emotive or phatic function, then X/pos=interjection.

Confusions can be made between the pos-values adjective and determiner:
If NP(Det+X+N), then X/pos=a; otherwise, if NP(X+N), then X/pos=d.
