Semantics of the PoS and attribute-values

The clear definition of the semantics of the PoS, with clear tests for the inclusion of an item in a given PoS, and the semantics of attributes and values, with criteria for the encoding is considered another important requirement of the development of guidelines for lexicon encoding.

Each main category section starts with a description of the semantics of the class (pos-values section). As already explained in Teufel 1995, {pos is a special type of feature; as pos encodes our main categories, its values have to appear in different sections, in contrast to all other features.
