Value aux

The value auxiliary is used to encode the verbs avere and essere.

In Italian, at the lexicon level, the two potential auxiliaries essere and avere are marked as aux, i.e. without distinguishing the cases in which they are used as main verbs: Marco ha=mai un bel cane vs. Marco ha=aux amato molto Maria. The disambiguation of the two auxiliaries, when used as main verbs (and of the verb essere also its use as copula (ho=mai (possiedo) un cane; sono=mai (sto) nel prato; sono=cop molto stanco), can be specified, if necessary, at the level of tagging by manual or semi-automatic means.
