Verb Prefixes

Problem:

In German, verb prefixes can be separated from the verb. These stand-alone prefixes (PTKVZ) are ambiguous with adpositions, particles, adjectives, adverbials. Dependencies are long distance. Only adjectival prefixes are an open class. Too much noise expected in cases like

• Woran machst Du das fest/PTKVZ? vs.
• Er macht Kissenfüllungen immer extrem fest/ADJD.

Tagging practice IMS/TUE:

Only particle prefixes and else untaggable verbal prefixes tagged PTKVZ, all other like in normal contexts.

• Er stellte das dar/PTKVZ.
• Sie fuhr rad/PTKVZ.
• but: Er ging den Berg hinauf/ADV.
• but: Sie hielten das streng geheim/ADJD.
• but: Er ging der Sonne entgegen/APPO.
