As planned during the kickoff meeting of the EAGLES Working Group on Grammar Formalisms in Saarbrücken (March 1993), a Workshop on ``The Linguistic Adequacy of Linguistic Formalisms for NLP'' was organized by Dominique Estival (coordinator of the Linguistic Adequacy subgroup), with the help of Klaus Netter, who was also organizing a workshop on ``Grammar Engineering'' during ESSLLI'93 in Lisbon. Thanks to the help of the organizers of the European Summer School on Language, Logic and Information, this EAGLES workshop could take place in Lisbon, at the end of ESSLLI'93 on August 28-29th 1993.
